Beta Nu Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity at Case Western Reserve University

Resolute Man Scholarship

For Incoming CWRU Freshmen

Dear Fellow CWRU Student,

Several brothers druing Greek Week.
Congratulations on your decision to attend Case Western Reserve University! I am sure that as you begin packing to move into the residence halls, many questions are running through your head: "Will my professors be interesting?", "Will the dining hall food taste good?", "How will I afford my books for the first semester?" Well, I can't address the first two questions right now, but I would like to present one opportunity to help with the third - the Resolute Man Scholarship offered by the Beta Nu Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity. We are offering this $1000 award to one incoming freshman man.

The process is relatively simple and painless (in fact, we hope to make it as fun as possible). Fill out the attached form and submit your response, either by mail, internet form, or in person by 8/24/2011 at 5:00 PM. We will then contact you on 8/27/2011 to set up a short, 15-minute interview. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Christopher Galecki, the fall Recruitment Chairman, at csg35@case.edu. I also wish to make clear that applying for this scholarship neither obligates you to join Theta Chi, nor guarantees that we will extend an offer of membership.

For those who are curious, Theta Chi is an international men's fraternity founded in 1856, with over 150 active chapters across the country and in Canada. The Greek letters Theta and Chi stand for two words that translate to "The Helping Hand," one of the many ideals of the organization. Theta Chi's maxim is "Alma Mater first and Theta Chi for Alma Mater" which means that as a chapter we strive to be in every way a boon, and never a bane, to your academic endeavors here at Case. Our chapter was the first fraternity at CWRU to adopt an alcohol free housing policy (which we did in 1998). More information about the local chapter can be found at this website or about the national organization at http://www.thetachi.org. Good luck on the scholarship, and I hope to see you during Orientation!

Fraternally,
Matthew Varley
Chapter President
